KNOWLEDGE – SAFETY – CONFIDENCE
At Hat Trick Training, we strive to provide the necessary knowledge for new gun owners to understand the basics of handguns as well as all gun owners to understand the mindset to responsibly carry a firearm for self-protection. Hat Trick Training is approved by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety as an organization authorized to certify instructors and individuals for Minnesota’s Permit to Carry.
“Hat Trick”, isn’t that a hockey term?
Why yes, yes it is. In hockey, a hat trick is three goals in one game. At Hat Trick Training, our three goals are Knowledge, Safety, and Confidence. The knowledge to understand firearms, the laws governing their use, and the mindset needed to carry a firearm. Safety is imperative since guns are an inherently dangerous tools that needs to be handled with respect. Finally, the confidence to carry responsibly, every day.
Testimonials
Great Learning Experience
I’d like to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciated the gun knowledge and safety class that you presented. I went into the class at the request of a friend with whom I’d gone to a shooting range. She emphasized the importance of gun knowledge and safety, and that I was pretty much a neophyte in gun knowledge. While I disagreed and thought I knew most everything I needed to know beforehand, I was really taken back by how much I really did not know. The overview and specifics of gun handling, the vast number of sizes, calibers, functioning, mechanisms, owning and carrying regulations, liabilities, and insurance were all new to me. The emphasis on safety and legal aspects were especially enlightening. You made it interesting with some anecdotal examples. In other words, it became an entertaining learning experience. We’ll be in contact with you for some individual instruction after I get my permit.
Learned More Than We Expected
We thought your class was great! Being my first time, I learned a lot and my husband said he did too even though it was a refresher course for him. We not only learned about gun safety but also about being aware of our surroundings and giving good tips on diffusing confrontation. We will highly recommend your class to our friends.
One Of The Best Classes I’ve Attended
Doug Taylor of Hat Trick Training presented one of the best classes I have attended. Doug was very professional, covered all the material clearly, and instructed with a calm, positive demeanor. My only criticism is that with all the good questions presented, it went a little longer than I had expected.
Excellent!
I will definitely get you some referral business. Excellent job!!
Willingness to Answer All Questions
Thanks, Doug. It was a great class— very well taught— and I appreciate your willingness to answer all of our questions. The range experience was also very good. Thanks again!
FAQs
No, but it is best if you have your own firearm. Any caliber will do for the class. If you need to borrow one of my guns, I can set you up with a 9mm or a .22LR pistol. Just let me know before the class.
What states will recognize my Minnesota Permit To Carry?
Your MN Permit To Carry is recognized in good amount of states. Since the list of states changes from time to time, we go over the permit reciprocity map in detail during your class.
No, your class fee covers the class, range fee, and your certificate of completion. The only "extra” fees would be the fee you pay to your county when you apply for your permit.
What if I am not ready to carry a firearm yet?
Even if you are not ready to carry a firearm on a daily basis, our Permit To Carry is also a great gun safety class. You will benefit from the modules on safety, mindset, self-defense, and situational awareness
